Android Auto to soon get Gemini in place of Google Assistant

Google has released an update to the Android Auto app for Android. It carries version 14.0. While it doesn’t bring any major changes, it turns out that it contains strings of code which suggest that Google is working on replacing Google Assistant in Android Auto with Gemini.

Folks at 9To5Google dug deep into the latest version of Android Auto and found that it contains icons for Gemini. It suggests that Google may soon offer its latest virtual assistant in its vehicle companion. Plus, they came across strings of code that contain these sentences:

  • Gemini is now the personal AI assistant in your car
  • How satisfied were you with Gemini in Android Auto today?
  • How was your Gemini experience?

These sentences confirm that Google is not just going to offer Gemini in Android Auto but will replace Google Assistant with Gemini in it. Unfortunately, there’s still no information about when that’s going to happen. Considering that the brand will first test it in the beta version of the app and then offer it in the stable version, we assume it is at least a few months away.

Gemini, being more advanced than Google Assistant, can offer additional features on Android Auto, helping users with more tasks and making driving easier for them. Recently, Google announced that it is going to shut down Google Assistant for smartphones later this year in favor of Gemini. Eventually, the brand will replace Google Assistant with Gemini on all platforms.
