Gone for good: Samsung Ballie’s final lifeline has vanished

Gone for good: Samsung Ballie’s final lifeline has vanished

Samsung’s ball-shaped robot, Ballie, may never become a consumer product. That possibility became harder to ignore after Ballie skipped CES 2026. Now, the last flicker of hope is gone.

After promising a summer 2025 US debut, Samsung launched a sign-up page for availability updates. That page has now been removed. Visitors are redirected to Samsung’s projector landing page instead, where they can buy a regular projector without wheels.

Last month, Samsung confirmed Ballie had transformed internally into an “active innovation platform,” a way to test new smart home concepts and context-driven experiences behind the curtain.

With the Ballie landing page gone, it looks like Samsung has fully shelved the project — or the idea of a commercial product — for now.

It’s an odd turn, considering Samsung publicly shared a release window. Ballie should have arrived last summer. Something clearly changed, whether the robot wasn’t ready or the concept simply wasn’t viable.

Previous rumors suggested Samsung struggled to define Ballie’s market position. One obstacle may have been Samsung’s own Jet Bot lineup. Those robots are smart and, more importantly, useful. They vacuum floors.

Ballie, by contrast, would have roamed your home with a projector and Gemini integration, but without vacuuming capabilities or other practical benefits.

I had hoped Ballie and the Jet Bots would form an entertaining duo, especially if Samsung leaned into playful AI-driven interactions between the two. Imagine the Jet Bot and Ballie crossing paths in your living room. Acknowledging each other's presence, that could have been entertaining.

In reality, Ballie may have instead looked like the less useful robot next to a Jet Bot, and possibly the more expensive one without having what it takes to justify the higher price.

At this point, it’s clearer than ever that Ballie isn’t happening. At least not in its current form. And considering it was already redesigned once after its original 2020 appearence, it’s hard to imagine Samsung taking another swing at it anytime soon.

But to wrap this up, if you previously signed up for Ballie news on Samsung US' webpage, you'll probably never hear from it. And if you still want to buy a Samsung robot, the company will release its new Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam this year.
