Snapdragon lovers will like the Samsung Galaxy A36

Snapdragon lovers will like the Samsung Galaxy A36

Samsung doesn't use Snapdragon chips too often on its mid-range smartphones, but with the Galaxy A36, it is making Snapdragon-powered Galaxy phones less rare. The Galaxy A36 boasts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip, a slight upgrade over the Exynos 1380 inside last year's Galaxy A35.

According to Samsung, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 has 8% faster CPU performance than the Exynos 1380. Benchmarks suggest the Snapdragon chip has higher multi-core performance and almost identical single-core performance.

Samsung doesn't mention GPU or NPU performance figures, but, at the very least, we can expect them to be the same as the Exynos 1380's.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, built on Samsung's 4nm process node, has four performance (Cortex-A78) cores clocked at 2.4GHz, four efficient (Cortex-A55) cores, and the Adreno 710 GPU. On the Galaxy A36, the chip is paired with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM. Storage options include 128GB and 256GB.

The Galaxy A36 does not bring a major leap in performance over its predecessor, but the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 should be more than enough for all but the most demanding users. We just hope performance will not degrade significantly over the next six years with each major Android OS upgrade.
