Today is a terrible day for Samsung. The vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, Jong-Hee (JH) Han, died earlier today. It is reported that Han suffered a major heart attack a few days ago and died while receiving treatment at a hospital. He was 63 years old.

Han reportedly suffered a heart attack on Saturday, shortly after attending his daughter's wedding at a banquet hall. Following the heart attack, he was transferred to Samsung Medical Center in Seoul. Unfortunately, during his ongoing treatment, Han passed away.
In an internal note circulated to its employees, Samsung Electronics announced JH Han's death and said, “We pray for the peace of the deceased who devoted 37 years to the company. The deceased led the global TV business to be number one and did their utmost as the head of the set division and the DA division amidst challenging domestic and international circumstances.“
Han was scheduled to deliver the keynote speech at tomorrow's ‘Welcome To Bespoke' event (March 26, 2025). However, after he suffered a heart attack, Samsung Electronics announced that someone else would preside over the event. Han's funeral will take place on March 27, and his memorial will be set up at Samsung Seoul Hospital.
Who was Samsung's JH Han?
JH Han was a key figure at Samsung Electronics. He led Samsung's Digital Appliances division, Samsung DA. He was born in 1962 and graduated as an electronics engineer from Inha University. He then joined Samsung's Visual Display division, which designs and sells TVs. He worked as an expert in the TV field for 33 years.
In 2017, he became the head of Samsung Visual Display. Due to his contributions, Samsung continued to be the world's biggest TV brand for 15 consecutive years. In 2021, Samsung's consumer electronics and mobile divisions were merged into a single entity called Set Division, and JH Han was promoted to the position of its CEO and Samsung Electronics' vice chairman.
