Exynos to return to Galaxy S flagships whether you like it or not

The Exynos vs Snapdragon debate continues to rage on for Samsung fans. Since 2020, Samsung has launched two Galaxy S lineups that exclusively used Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips. But it doesn't seem like that will become the norm anytime soon.

Multiple reports have claimed that the Galaxy S26 lineup will see the return of Samsung's Exynos chips. We now have yet another claim from a dependable tipster on X, who says the “Exynos 2600 is definitely back and it will be used in the S26.

Exynos 2600 and Galaxy S26 is a marriage that's happening for sure

However, while previous reports have claimed that Samsung is working on making sure it has a high yield rate for the 2nm fabrication process it will use to manufacture the Exynos 2600, the tipster claims the “chip volume is so limited that it'll likely be similar to the Exynos 990 situation.

That's a little contradictory: the Exynos 990 was used worldwide on the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Note 20 series except for the US, Canada, and China, so if chip volume is limited, then the Snapdragon vs Exynos distribution for the Galaxy S26 lineup would be something more similar to the Galaxy S22 lineup, which was powered by a Snapdragon chip everywhere except Europe.

The most plausible scenario is that Samsung will use a Snapdragon chip for the Ultra model worldwide while equipping the other models with an Exynos chip in most countries, which is what it did in 2024. But it's all speculation for now, and it's too early to say what Samsung will eventually end up doing.
