Apple will give the iPhone 17 Samsung’s best display technology

Samsung Display makes the best mobile OLED panels in the business and Apple knows that. The Cupertino company has been sourcing the bulk of the OLED panels for its iPhones from Samsung, and is also expected to look Samsung's way for its OLED MacBooks.

Apple is due to launch the iPhone 17 later this year and this time around, it appears to be sourcing Samsung's best available display technology for its flagship smartphone series. That works out nicely for Samsung because it's going to make a pretty penny on those sales.

Samsung set to earn a pretty penny from Apple

Korean media is reporting that Apple will source Samsung Display's latest M14 material set-based OLED panels for the iPhone 17 models. These panels will be applied on all four models, this includes the iPhone 17, 17 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Apple will reportedly be launching an iPhone 17 Air as well and it may also get the same display technology.

Samsung Display will account for the bulk of these OLED panel shipments. Analysts expect the company to supply Apple with up to 90 million panels, with the company sourcing the rest from others in its supply chain, including Samsung's cross-town rival LG Display.

M14 is the most high-performance material set available on commercialized OLED panels so far. Samsung Display would certainly be charging top dollar for the technology, as one would expect. The new iPhones are expected to be launched in the second half of this year.
