Galaxy users can soon share camera or screen with Gemini Live for better conversations

Samsung chose Google's Gemini to be the default AI assistant on the Galaxy S25 series. And that was a wise choice as Gemini is now getting even smarter. Some people can now share their phone's camera or screen with Gemini Live for more meaningful conversations.

Gemini Live's Astra feature starts appearing for some users

Last year during Google I/O 2024, Google showcased how smart Gemini is. You can share your phone's live camera feed or screen with Gemini and discuss things with it based on the information it gathers. Google calls this feature ‘Astra,' and you can use it to “talk through ideas, learn about your environment, or get help with what’s on your screen.

A few weeks ago, Astra slowly started rolling out to some Pixel smartphone users. Now, according to 9To5Googe, it is rolling out to more devices, and Google said it is “working hard to make it available to more people.

Gemini's Astra feature will be available for every Android smartphone or tablet user who is subscribed to the Gemini Advanced plan. The Galaxy S25 comes bundled with a 6-month subscription to Gemini Advanced for free, so Astra could soon start rolling out for those devices. Our Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra haven't received the feature yet.

Once you launch Gemini, tap the Live button on the bottom right corner of the screen. Then, tap the Camera icon on the bottom of the screen to share your camera's live feed with Gemini. You can also tap the screen sharing button (on the right side of the camera button) to share your phone's screen.

With Astra, you can show everything you are seeing (in real world or on the phone's screen) to Gemini and ask things about them to the AI assistant. Gemini can explain things it is seeing to you and help you in solving problems or planning things. You can see how Gemini Live's Astra feature works in Google's official video below.
