The Nintendo Switch 2, which was detailed a couple of days ago, brings several improvements. It has a bigger screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, much better performance, better Joy-Cons, and 8x higher built-in storage than the original Switch. But if you want to store even more games, you should look at Samsung's microSD Express (Nintendo Edition) card.
Samsung unveiled microSD Express 256GB (Nintendo Edition) card with the Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 has a microSD Express card slot for storage expansion, and it is compatible with up to 2TB microSD Express cards. MicroSD Express cards have data read speeds of up to 800MB/s, which is 8x faster than regular microSD cards and 1.4x faster than typical SATA SSDs.
Compared to microSD cards, microSD Express cards offer much faster storage speeds, which are necessary for loading the Switch 2's much bigger games. And yes, you can't use regular microSD cards with the Switch 2. So, all the famous microSD card brands, including Samsung, have made official microSD Express cards for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Samsung's microSD Express 256GB (Nintendo Edition) will go on sale in time for the Switch 2's launch. It is priced at $60 and has already been listed on GameStop, Walmart, and Target in the USA. You can pre-order starting April 9, 2025.
If you pick it up, you can double the storage space on your Switch 2 to 512GB. The Switch 2 is priced at $449 and will be available for pre-order on April 8 in Europe (and UK) and on April 9 in Canada and the USA. It will be launched on June 5, 2025.
Samsung could launch microSD Express cards with more storage in the future

Samsung was the world's first brand to announce microSD Express cards. They were announced early last year, and Samsung said they will go on sale in late 2024. However, that didn't happen. The company most probably postponed the availability probably because there were no gadgets that are compatible with these microSD Express cards.
Now that Switch 2 has arrived, microSD Express' availability and usage will improve drastically. While the company hasn't announced higher capacity cards, it could launch 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB versions of microSD Express cards in the future as more people buy the Switch 2 console.
Samsung might also launch non-Nintendo Edition versions of its microSD Express cards in the future, and they will likely work just fine with the Switch 2.
