Qualcomm names Samsung as a key partner for its personal AI ecosystem

Samsung and Qualcomm's work goes far beyond optimizing the latter's flagship chips for the former's high-end smartphones.

The two are actively working on bringing new device categories to market, as evident from the work they've done alongside Google on intelligent eyewear. Qualcomm views Samsung as a key partner for its personal AI strategy which involves developing solutions for new device categories.

New product categories will bring a new dimension to personal AI

Qualcomm chips are in everything from smartphones, notebooks, smartwatches, vehicles, smart glasses, extended reality headsets, and more. Its personal AI strategy revolves around devices like smartwatches, XR, and AI glasses.

During Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Hawaii this week, Qualcomm highlighted Samsung as a key partner in these endeavors.

Ziad Asghar, Qualcomm's SVP & General Manager of XR, Wearables and Personal AI, said during the conference that “Samsung plays an important role in expanding the personal AI ecosystem,” adding that “We have a long-standing partnership that has created globally iconic mobile experiences together.”

Asghar said that the two companies are working together to deliver richer and more connected AI experiences beyond mobile phones through devices such as smartwatches, XR headsets, and intelligent eyewear.

The first of these intelligent eyewear products are set to hit the market soon. Samsung also has its own-brand Galaxy Glasses in the works as well, while the company is also believed to have augmented reality glasses in the pipeline which it may launch at some point in the coming year.
