Samsung Wallet is a critical app on Galaxy devices, especially for users who rely on mobile payments in stores in their day-to-day lives. It is one of the most feature-rich digital wallet apps in todayâs smartphone ecosystem. However, some features may stop working if a key Google component is not up to date.
Samsung Wallet requires up-to-date Google Play services
Galaxy users have recently been notified (via SammyFans) that Samsung Walletâs Digital Key feature will not work unless Google Play services is updated. If this component is significantly outdated, users may not be able to lock or unlock supported smart locks or compatible vehicles.

When users tap the notification, they are redirected to the Google Play services page on the Google Play Store, where they can install the latest update. While Google Play services is usually updated automatically alongside system or firmware updates, it may not always be on the latest version.
To manually update Google Play services, go to Settings > Google > All services > System services > Google Play services, and then tap Update.
