While the displays on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 got bigger, they didn't get brighter. All the displays on the new foldable phones can go as high as 2,600 nits of peak brightness. But do they support Always On Display wallpapers like the Galaxy S25 series can?
Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 support AOD wallpapers
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 now support AOD wallpapers on their primary (foldable) screens. This is an improvement over their predecessors, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6, whose foldable screens did not support the feature. So, along with the time, date, widgets, and notifications' app icons, the primary screens on the new phones can display the wallpaper as well.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 6 supports AOD wallpapers on the cover display, its internal screen doesn't. The Galaxy Z Flip 6's cover screen supports AOD wallpapers, but only for five seconds. And the flip phone's internal screen doesn't support AOD wallpapers.
The screens need to feature an LTPO OLED panel for the AOD wallpaper feature to work properly. And the internal screens on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 do feature on LTPO panel.
The AOD wallpaper feature first appeared on Samsung phones starting with the Galaxy S24 series. It did not come to older phones with software updates, though, as compatible display hardware is needed for the feature to work. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the Galaxy S25 Edge are some other phones that feature AOD wallpapers.
