Samsung Electronics has announced a new addition to its digital signage lineup that almost seems to defy the laws of physics. The company's new Color E-Paper screen (EM32DX) is exceptionally power-efficient and consumes 0.00W of energy when displaying static color images. How is this possible?
It's partly due to the standard set by the International Electrotechnical Commission, which states that a device with power consumption below 0.005W is rated at 0.00W. Needless to say, the power draw of Samsung's Color E-Paper when displaying static images is less than 0.005W.
Samsung also says the Color E-Paper screen requires significantly less energy than other digital signage solutions when transitioning from one color image to another.
And to drive the point home, Samsung claims that the Color E-Paper's internal 4,600mAh battery can last for up to 200 days on a full charge if the content displayed changes once a day.
A super thin lifelike digital signage solution
The Color E-Paper's screen has a 32-inch diagonal and a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. Samsung finely tuned the display to have a paper-like appearance, featuring subtle contours, expressive colors, and smooth gradations.

The Color E-Paper's high energy efficiency can help restaurants, retailers, and other businesses save money. They can also save resources by avoiding printing costs for advertising materials.
Furthermore, the display's housing, which is incredibly slim, was manufactured using 50% recycled plastic.
Other specs include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, and 8GB of onboard storage. The device can be controlled using the Samsung E-Paper app, available for Android 10 and iOS 15 and later versions.
For more convenience, the Color E-Paper is compatible with Samsung VXT — a cloud-based platform that allows owners to create content for the display and manage the system remotely.
In addition, companies that may want to integrate the Color E-Paper screen into their own management systems can do it through the Tizen Enterprise Platform.
