In October 2024, we learned that Samsung is developing two rugged phones, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro. However, the brand has been taking the development very slowly as we have been hearing about their progress at snail’s pace. We had a leak about the latter’s battery in December 2024, but nothing after that.
Well, the development of at least one of the two devices, the XCover 8 Pro, seems to be complete as the company has started getting it certified and benchmarked. That’s right. We have spotted the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro on TÜV Rheinland and Geekbench. Apart from suggesting that its launch is imminent, they also reveal the phone’s specifications.
TÃœV Rheinland confirms Samsung will launch Galaxy XCover 8 Pro in the US and Canada
The Galaxy XCover 8 Pro’s TÜV Rheinland certification mentions four model numbers, SM-G766B, SMG766U, SM-G766U1, and SM-G766W. They are model numbers for the phone's international variant, carrier-locked and carrier-unlocked variants for the United States, and the Canadian variant.

Geekbench reveals Galaxy XCover 8 Pro specifications
As for the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro’s Geekbench listing, it reveals that the phone has Adreno 810 GPU, which suggests that it features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, same as the XCover 7 Pro. It also confirms that one of the configurations on offer will have 6GB RAM and Samsung will ship it with Android 15 (One UI 7).

The phone scored 1,157 points on the single-core test and 3,288 points on the multi-core test. In comparison, the previous phone in the series, the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, scored 773 points in the single-core test and 2,790 points in the multi-core test with the Snapdragon 778G SoC. It means that the upcoming phone is up to 50% faster than the existing one in the single-core performance and 18% faster in the multi-core performance.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know other features about the two devices, including details about their screen, camera, and connectivity. Considering that Samsung is getting them certified and benchmarked, which suggests that their launch is imminent, we expect to see more leaks and rumours coming out in the near future.
