Android 15 brought a rather new and useful feature called Instant Hotspot last year, but it quickly became evident that the feature won't be available on Samsung devices. That was largely due to Samsung already providing a similar feature as part of its One UI software.
However, Google has now changed course on the matter, bringing support for Instant Hotspot to the Galaxy S25, powered by One UI 7. Instant Hotspot won't be coming to older devices, even though they have support for Samsung's latest software.
Instant Hotspot is supported on the Galaxy S25 series phones only
The Instant Hotspot feature enables any Android smartphone, tablet, or a Chromebook to instantly connect to an Android phone's hotspot, as long as all devices are signed into the same Google account. This was initially not available on Galaxy devices because Samsung provides a similar feature called Auto Hotspot.
The difference here is that Auto Hotspot only works for Galaxy devices, so your Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra can automatically connect to your Galaxy Z Flip 6‘s hotspot, but if you had a non-Galaxy device, the hotspot would need to be manually configured on the other device. The process would involve first manually enabling the hotspot on your Galaxy phone and then entering the credentials on the non-Galaxy tablet to establish the connection.
It has now been confirmed that Instant Hotspot works on Samsung devices as well. An update on Google's support page confirms the same. Users will see a notification on their non-Galaxy tablet asking them if they want to use the phone's hotspot. Tapping on the connect button then creates a temporary hotspot on the smartphone that the tablet connects to.
