After Samsung adopted Wear OS, several other brands started launching Wear OS smartwatches. OPPO has launched its new smartwatch, the OPPO Watch X2, to compete with the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
OPPO Watch X2 offers Galaxy Watch Ultra-like battery life
The OPPO Watch X2 was announced alongside the OPPO Find N5. It is based on Wear OS 5.0, similar to the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Like Samsung, OPPO has designed a custom Wear OS skin: ColorOS Watch 7.0.
OPPO's new smartwatch has a 1.5-inch OLED screen with 466 x 466 pixels resolution, 2,200 nits peak brightness, and an always-on display (AOD) mode. The display is protected using Saphhire Crystal glass. Its frame is made using stainless steel, while the bezel uses a titanium alloy. The rotating crown on the right can be used to scroll through the UI.
Similar to the Galaxy Watch 7, the OPPO Watch X2 has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It can withstand up to 50 meters of submersion in water. Like Samsung's smartwatch, the OPPO Watch X2 is compatible with 20mm straps.

The OPPO Watch X2 has the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB storage. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has the Exynos W1000 chip with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.
It is powered by a 648mAh battery that can last up to 3 days with all the features enabled. Its battery life is better than that of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which costs slightly more. However, it lacks wireless charging and relies on 7.5W wired charging. In comparison, Samsung's smartwatches have 10W wireless charging.
OPPO has equipped the Watch X2 with an accelerometer, barometer, compass, ECG, GPS (dual-frequency), gyro, heart-rate monitor, SpO2 monitoring, and a skin temperature sensor.
It has all the sensors found on the Galaxy Watch 7 except for the body composition analysis sensor. So, you can't measure your BMI, body fat percentage, and other metrics.
It can sync health data to Google Fit or other apps using Health Connect and workout data with Strava.
The OPPO Watch X2 has dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.2 with LE, and NFC. It also has a microphone and a loudspeaker.
OPPO Watch X2 costs slightly less than Galaxy Watch Ultra
It costs SGD 499 in Singapore, which is equivalent to $374. It isn't clear if it will be sold in American or European markets. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 7 costs around $250 in the USA, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra costs around $420.
So, would you choose the OPPO Watch X2 over the Galaxy Watch Ultra because it is $50 cheaper?
