Galaxy A53 picks up February 2025 security update

Samsung is making one of its Galaxy A-series smartphones from 2023, the Galaxy A53, more secure with a new software update. It brings the February 2025 security patch to the smartphone. You can read about the security vulnerabilities it fixes in our dedicated article.

Unfortunately, the South Korean tech giant has made the latest security update available only for one variant of the smartphone, the one that it sells in its home country, South Korea. It has the model number SM-A536N. That being said, other variants should get it soon.

Updating the Galaxy A53 to the latest software version is very simple. Go to Settings » Software update » Download and install. If you don’t see the update, then it means that Samsung hasn’t made it available for your device yet and you might have to wait a little.

If you don’t want to wait, you can download the firmware from our database and install it on your phone using the Odin software on a Windows PC. However, this route is risky and it could brick your phone (render it useless). So, backup your data and proceed with caution.

The Galaxy A53 is eligible for Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update. Usually, Samsung releases a new version of Android by the end of a year. This year, however, it is running late. A recent report suggests that the update could arrive any moment now.
