Earlier today, Samsung revealed its earnings for the third quarter of this year. The company said consumer demand will remain low for the rest of the year. However, it has grand plans to improve its business next year, as the company has confirmed its mixed-reality (XR) headset is coming next year.
Samsung's XR headset to launch in 2025, company confirms
As spotted by IDC analyst Bryan Ma, Samsung mentioned in one of its slides for investors that it will improve connectivity among its devices, including XR devices, “to further elevate user experiences in the Galaxy ecosystem.” It indirectly means that it plans to launch its first XR device sometime in 2025.
Samsung first teased its upcoming XR device earlier this year during the announcement of the Galaxy S24. The company said it is partnering with Google and Qualcomm for its XR device. The South Korean firm is said to use a new version of Android optimized for XR devices and Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip.
The device could also use Micro OLED or OLEDoS panels with a high refresh rate and multiple cameras in its XR headset. Some rumors claim that the company is launching XR glasses and not an XR headset. So, details are still blurry, and more credible information will likely be unveiled only next year.
The slide also mentions the Galaxy S25 series, confirming that it will launch the successor to the Galaxy S24 series in 2025.
