Galaxy S24 FE’s seven-year journey of software updates starts this month

Samsung has added the Galaxy S24 FE to the list of devices that are eligible to receive monthly security updates, kickstarting what will be a seven-year journey of software updates for the latest Fan Edition model.

The next seven years will not only bring security updates. The S24 FE will also get seven Android OS upgrades and all of the One UI updates Samsung will release between now and the year 2031, at least if traditional yearly Android and One UI updates are still a thing a few years down the line.

At this time, the Galaxy S24 FE is the least expensive Samsung phone that is guaranteed software updates for seven years. Select Samsung mid-range devices, even those in the $200 range, will get updates for six years, but as it stands right now, those mid-range devices will not have access to Galaxy AI.

Galaxy AI is exclusive to Samsung's flagship smartphones and tablets and will likely remain so for the foreseeable future, even though Samsung has said it plans to make AI accessible to all. Flagship devices also get more features with Android and One UI updates in general.

All that is to say that the best user experience and software support are only available on Samsung's flagship phones. And if you want those, at the time of writing, the S24 FE is the most affordable option.

In the US, the Galaxy S24 FE is priced at $649, $20 more than the S23 FE, for the base variant, which sports 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Pricing remains similar or slightly higher than the S23 FE in other regions, and the best way to check how much you can buy it for in your country is to hit the link below or visit the official Samsung website.
