One UI 6.1.1 is possibly the fastest any One UI update has gone live globally. Software updates for Galaxy devices are usually released in phases, as you are likely aware. These updates debut in a few markets before gradually making their way to all corners of the world.
Whether it's a security update or one that brings a new version of Android and/or One UI, it can take a few weeks for everyone to receive it. Obviously, users are more impatient when it's an Android or One UI update. But Samsung generally takes the same approach for all types of updates.
One UI 6.1.1 went live in an impressive number of countries simultaneously
However, that's not the case for One UI 6.1.1. While the update's initial release for each device was restricted to Korea, Samsung made the rollout global less than a week later and, more importantly, brought the update to several countries and regions on the same day.
It's not uncommon for updates to go live simultaneously in multiple countries. But they don't usually get a super-wide rollout in a span of just 24 hours. For One UI 6.1.1, Samsung has broken that long-standing tradition.
It's not all perfect of course. Because of Galaxy AI, and like version 6.1, One UI 6.1.1 spent more time in development than we have come to expect from One UI updates over the last few years, and it could be the norm for One UI updates going forward.
But Samsung fans may be willing to overlook the longer development cycles if the company can reduce the time it takes for these updates to reach everyone. Hopefully, One UI 6.1.1 wasn't just a one-off and Samsung will replicate the quick worldwide release with future updates, including the upcoming One UI 7.0.
