YouTube-like video streaming app from X (Twitter) coming to Samsung TVs

After a decade-long cord-cutting boom that started in 2007, video streaming services have consolidated over the past couple of years. However, there is one new video streaming service on the horizon. X (formerly Twitter) plans to launch an app that lets you watch long-form videos.

X (Twitter) plans to launch a video streaming app for Samsung TVs and Amazon's Fire TV

Elon Musk has revealed that a video streaming service from X is coming soon. According to multiple reports (including Forbes), this upcoming service will be launched on Samsung TVs and Amazon's Fire TV platform. It will reportedly be a YouTube-like long-form video streaming service, making it easier and more comfortable to watch long-form content on a bigger screen.

Since acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk has been trying to make it an “everything app.” The company has already released the ability to post long-form written content (a feature called Articles) and the ability to make and receive voice/video calls. In its blog post earlier this year, the X team claimed that it is a video-first platform and that 8 out of 10 user sessions involved watching videos.

Elon Musk also aims to bring peer-to-peer payment services to X in the future. Since Samsung is the world's biggest TV brand, launching X's video streaming app on Samsung TVs running Tizen OS makes sense.
