Samsung’s ARM Galaxy Book 4 Edge to rival MacBook Air’s pricing

More evidence is piling up in support of the Galaxy Book 4 Edge. First spotted in a trademark application and an online benchmark shortly after, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge is now reemerging thanks to new information from third-party retailers.

In case you missed the news earlier this week, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge is a new laptop in development by Samsung and the company's first to rock the new ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip.

Now, according to retailers cited by WinFuture (via @rquandt), the Galaxy Book 4 Edge sports a 14-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. The RAM won't be expandable, and it's unclear whether Samsung will offer versions with fewer than 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Also unknown is whether the Book 4 Edge's 14-inch display will have touch capabilities. It is worth noting that the existing Galaxy Book 4 laptop lineup released globally at the end of February does indeed have touch displays.

What will this new ARM-based Galaxy Book 4 Edge cost?

Pricing information from third-party retailers isn't always spot on, but for what it's worth, the source says that the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will go on sale in Europe for around €1,800.

That puts the Galaxy Book 4 Edge in the realm of the Galaxy Book 4 Pro, which, like the Edge, has 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and Windows 11 Home. In Germany, the Book 4 Pro costs €1,899.

As for what the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will mean for Samsung and Windows laptop fans, for now, there are two main takeaways. The first is that the chip has integrated 5G connectivity, and the second is that the ARM chip should help the laptop's battery life.

This new ARM platform is aimed at competing with Apple's M chips, and early benchmarks seemingly confirm that the Snapdragon X Elite SoC sits somewhere between the M2 and M3 chips in terms of performance.

However, as WinFuture notes, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will cost about the same as a 13.6-inch MacBook Air equipped with an M3 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. In other words, Samsung's first ARM laptop won't be able to undercut Apple's beloved notebook and likely won't be as powerful as the M3-enabled device. But it might have an OLED panel.

In any case, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge might become more attractive through pre-order offers and post-launch discounts.
