A couple of days ago, Samsung released the March 2024 security patch for the Galaxy S20 series smartphones. However, the company hadn’t made it available for the distant cousin of those devices, the Galaxy S20 FE. Fortunately, that’s changing today. Samsung has started rolling out the latest security update to the international variant of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G, which carries the model number SM-G781B.
The new firmware comes with the build number G781BXXS9HXB4. The March 2024 security patch it brings, fixes a bunch of security issues. At the moment, the company is rolling out the new software update in Brazil, and it should make the firmware available in other regions gradually over the next few days.
To check for the update manually, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install. The phone will then check for the update and notify you if one is available. If the device doesn’t show an update, it means that Samsung hasn’t made it available in your region, and you will have to wait for a couple of days to get it. You can also download the firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G with Android 10 (One UI 2.0). As promised, the company has offered three new versions of the OS to the device, and it is currently running on Android 13 (One UI 5.1). That means the phone isn’t eligible for the Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update. However, the phone will keep getting security updates for another year. Currently, it is on the monthly security update schedule.
