Last week, the August 2021 security update was released to the US unlocked variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Now, Samsung has started rolling out the latest security patch to the international variants of those smartphones. Carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy S20 series are yet to get this software update, though.
Samsung has started rolling out a new software update with firmware version G98xFXXU9DUH2 to the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The update is currently rolling out in Germany, but it should soon expand to other markets worldwide. The new firmware brings the August 2021 security patch that fixes 40 vulnerabilities related to privacy and security on Galaxy devices.
If you are a Galaxy S20 series smartphone user in Germany, you might have already received a notification of the new update. If you haven’t, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file for your device from our firmware database and flash it manually using a Windows PC.
The Galaxy S20 series was launched in early 2020 with Android 10 on board with One UI 2. The smartphones received the One UI 2.5 update last year and the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 in December 2020. A few months ago, they received the One UI 3.1 update that brought some features which were introduced with the Galaxy S21 series.
