Samsung had started rolling out the June 2021 security patch to its smartphones even before June began. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G was the first device to get the update. A week later, the international variants of the Galaxy S20 series received the latest security patch, and now it’s time for the unlocked versions in the US to get the update.
The unlocked variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra have started getting a new software update in the US. The update is available on AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, C-Spire, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile’s networks. The new update, which has firmware version G98xU1UES2DUE2, includes the June 2021 security patch. Samsung hasn’t detailed which security vulnerabilities it has fixed with the latest patch, but the company is expected to publish a detailed document soon.
If you are a Galaxy S20 series smartphone user in the US on any of the networks mentioned above, you can check for the update by opening the Settings menu, tapping on Download and install, and then clicking on Download and install. If you don’t want to wait for the OTA update, you can download an appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung has promised monthly security updates to the Galaxy S20 series and three major Android OS updates. The smartphones were launched early last year with Android 10 on board, and they received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in December 2020. A few months ago, it received the One UI 3.1 update with a few features that debuted on the Galaxy S21 series.
