Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 firmware development is now underway

The Galaxy Z Flip 2 is going to be one of the two foldable smartphones that Samsung launches this year. The company hasn’t confirmed as yet when it’s going to arrive. Its predecessor was launched alongside the Galaxy S20 last year but Samsung decided against launching it early this year.

There haven’t been many leaks concerning the device just yet. We do know what model number it will have and have an idea of the display changes that might be made. We also know now that firmware development for the Galaxy Z Flip 2 has begun.

Samsung is working on the firmware for the Galaxy Z Flip 2. We’ve come to know this just days after finding out that firmware development has also begun for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This gives further weight to rumors that both new foldables might be unveiled at the same time.

There’s no official announcement yet regarding the launch of the new foldables. However, a new report has claimed that Samsung will unveil these devices in July this year. That’s going to be a bit earlier than what people would have expected.

Perhaps Samsung is moving up the launch in order to compensate for the lack of a new Galaxy Note flagship this year. Samsung has already confirmed that there won’t be a Galaxy Note 21. It’s now expected to bring support for the S Pen to the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Bearing model number SM-F711, the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will come with 128 and 256GB storage options. It will also ship with Android 11 and One UI 3.5 out of the box.
