Samsung UK is pushing the 5G hype train forward using a bus

Samsung UK is trying to push the 5G hype train forward using a bus. The company announced today the launch of the so-called 5G Bus at Samsung KX. It’s essentially a 5G zone shaped like a futuristic bus, designed to demonstrate some of the advantages of 5G networking such as having the ability to do office work or play videogames on the go.

The new 5G demo zone actually comprises three zones. There are the gaming and home office zones, as well as the life-sized bus in question. Visitors can experience gaming on the Odyssey G9 curved gaming monitor while in the gaming zone, or they can experience the power of 5G while playing Xbox games on the bus using a Galaxy Note 20 and Microsoft’s cloud-based Xbox Game Pass service. Guests can also play local multiplayer games in split screen mode on an 82-inch QLED 8K TV integrated with the bus.

Samsung continues to lead the 5G charge

Samsung also highlights how customers can improve remote productivity using 5G and the Galaxy Tab S7 together with accessories offered inside the bus. The company demonstrates how 5G enables remote working and connecting to home computers for fast file download speeds.

The 5G zone is situated in the west wing of Samsung’s experience space at King’s Crossing, and although the company’s 5G bus won’t become an actual public transport vehicle, it demonstrates what the future might look like in the emerging 5G era.

Samsung is one of the industry’s biggest 5G players at the moment. The company not only has over a dozen 5G-enabled devices under its belt but it’s also one of the world’s largest 5G network equipment supplier. It wants the technology to succeed so badly that it even created a 5G-centric podcast to explore the potential use cases of the technology.
