We had exclusively revealed the Galaxy Watch 3’s specifications last month and reported that the smartwatch will be launched in July. Later, the upcoming watch’s design and variants were leaked by various sources. Now, some more information regarding the Galaxy Watch 3’s software and specifications has been leaked, thanks to a leaked firmware file.
The Galaxy Watch 3 will reportedly use the same 10nm Exynos 9110 processor that’s used in the Galaxy Watch Active 2. Both 41mm (SM-R850) and 45mm (SM-R840) variants of the smartwatch will use a circular Super AMOLED display with 360×360 pixels resolution. It will come with Tizen OS 5.5 operating system and One UI 2.0 interface. It will feature NFC, loudspeaker, TI AFE4930 health sensor, and 5W wireless charging.
The upcoming smartwatch will also bring brand new watch faces, some of which are included in the video posted by Evan Blass (@evleaks) on Twitter. Some watch faces will have ‘Informative Digital Edges’ that display information such as alarm, battery charge, Bixby, date, day, calendar, calories, email, messages, music, reminder, sleep, steps, stopwatch, temperature, timer, weather, world clock, and more.
Remember that new weather app I was talking about on the Galaxy Watch 3? Well, it turns out it's a watch face! The background should change depending on the weather around you.

Samsung will also allow Informative Digital Edges to show suggestions. It is being expected that the information displayed through Information Digital Edges can change based on the time of the day, and the watch can learn what information users expect from it. There’s also a new watch face that shows animations in the background, depending on the current weather conditions. Reports also suggest that Samsung will replace its email app with Outlook on the Galaxy Watch 3.

Another report from Gizmodo UK suggests that the Galaxy Watch 3 will feature wrist gestures to control various aspects of the software. For example, a fist bump may allow the user to accept an incoming call, and shaking the hand will reject the call. Samsung could also bring a gesture that would allow users to automatically activate Bixby when they bring their wrist near the face.
Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch will be available in Wi-Fi only and LTE variants. The company will launch it in stainless steel and titanium finishes. It features 1GB RAM and 8GB storage, and its body will be MIL-STD-810G-compliant. It will also feature Gorilla Glass DX protection over the screen and IP68 certification for dust and 5 ATM water resistance. It features GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, NFC, and wireless charging.
