A new update has been released for the Galaxy A50; particularly for the model number SM-A505G. We don’t have a changelog as yet, so it might be that the update simply introduces the July 2019 security patch without any other modifications to the user experience. The firmware version is getting bumped to A505GUBS3ASF5.
You can check this detailed report to find out what vulnerabilities have been found and fixed with the July 2019 security patch. It’s likely that the changelog will mention the usual overall stability improvements if nothing more. We wouldn’t expect any new developments in the camera department, as the Galaxy A50’s camera has already seen some improvements with the inclusion of Night mode and Super Slow-mo alongside the June 2019 security patch last month.
It’s worth noting that, earlier this week, the Galaxy A30 was also updated with similar firmware paired with the July 2019 security patch. The changelog mentioned some tweaks to the moisture detection algorithm, so keep an eye out in case this will apply to the Galaxy A50’s latest firmware as well.
The Galaxy A50 July 2019 security patch and the associated update are available in a number of markets including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Puerto Rico and more. As usual, the update is being rolled out gradually and should be preceded by a notification on the phone. Users can trigger the update manually by heading to the Settings app and then tapping Software update » Download and install. Or they can download the firmware from our database and flash it manually using a computer.
