Samsung has brought WeChat Pay support to the Wallet app on Galaxy smartphones. This will allow South Koreans traveling to China to make payments at any WeChat Pay merchant simply by scanning a QR code using a supported Galaxy device.
The partnership between Samsung, Tencent, and Woori Bank brings easier payments for South Korean Galaxy smartphone users in China. It eliminates the need to set up a separate local payment method or pay foreign currency exchange fees. Users can complete transactions either by showing their payment QR code to the cashier or by scanning the store's QR code.
This feature not only waives the usual overseas transaction fees but also earns users an unlimited 0.3% cashback in the form of Samsung Wallet Points when making offline purchases.

Samsung also plans to allow users to link their credit cards for QR code-based payments in China in the first quarter of next year (Q1 2027). The company is also planning to roll out NFC-based contactless payments (tap-to-pay) for even faster transactions.
