There's no doubt Samsung is already working on a new series of Galaxy flagship phones. However, lately the company has tried new and interesting strategies, such as releasing a third mainline foldable, which proved to be quite a success.
Will the non-foldable Galaxy S27 lineup expand as well? Here's what we know so far.
Six Galaxy S27 models throughout 2027?
Leaks and rumors strongly suggest Samsung's mainline Galaxy S27 series will feature four models instead of three:
- Galaxy S27: Base model, smaller screen, most compact.
- Galaxy S27+: Similar to base model but with a bigger screen.
- Galaxy S27 Pro: New entry. Closer to the Ultra but smaller. No S Pen.
- Galaxy S27 Ultra: The top variant with the best features and S Pen support.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to narrow the spec gap between the Galaxy S27+ and Ultra models. Leaks hint at several similarities between the two, and both phones may feature redesigned, wide camera housing.
Ideally, the Pro model will be a smaller, S Pen-free version of the Ultra, though it may feature a slightly downgraded camera.
According to recent rumors, at least three mainline Galaxy S27 models will be powered by Samsung's new Exynos 2700 chip. The Ultra could feature Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon SoC. That's one other way the Ultra and new Pro models might be different.
Two more Galaxy S27 variants may be planned
Samsung may release two more S27 variants next year in addition to the four mainline Galaxy S27 models. These haven't enjoyed nearly as many rumors and leaks, but they're not out of the question yet.
- Galaxy S27 FE: A cheaper “Fan Edition” model that blends premium with affordability, supposedly based on consumer feedback.
- Galaxy S27 Edge: A premium flagship with a focus on thinness and extreme engineering. May compete with the rumored iPhone Air 2.
There could be a logical explanation to the lack of S27 FE/Edge rumors so far. The S27, S27+, Pro, and Ultra are expected to go official in January or February next year, whereas the S27 FE and S27 Edge may be planned for release later in 2027.
In total, Samsung may release six Galaxy S27 variants next year, giving prospective buyers plenty of options at varying price points.
Keep in mind that nothing is official until Samsung says so. While the four mainline S27 models are almost guaranteed, the future of the S27 FE and S27 Edge is still uncertain.
