Samsung remains No. 1 in NAND market despite falling market share

Counterpoint Research has published an analysis on the global NAND market in Q2 2026. According to it, Samsung continued to lead the chart with a 25% market share. However, the South Korean tech giant̢۪s share fell by seven percentage points in Q2 2026 compared to Q2 2024, when it had a 32% market share.

Samsung was followed by SK Hynix, YMTC, Kioxia, Micron, and SanDisk with 22%, 14%, 14%, 13%, and 11% market shares, respectively. According to the firm, enterprise solid-state drives (eSSDs) accounted for 48% of total NAND shipments, a huge jump from 26% in Q2 2025. It will be fueled by skyrocketing AI demand.

Counterpoint Research says that Samsung faced capacity constraints with NAND output as it has prioritized the higher-margin DRAM. If that wasn̢۪t the case, the South Korean tech giant may have been way ahead of its rivals.

According to the firm, the eSSDs will account for half of the total NAND market by the end of this year. It will squeeze consumer SSD supply, pushing the average selling prices (ASPs) of consumer SSDs even higher.
