Huawei led the segment with a whopping 57% market share. Honor, Oppo, and Vivo followed in third, fourth, and fifth places, with 9%, 7%, and 6% market shares, respectively. Other brands accounted for 3% market share.

Omdia expects the foldable smartphone market to grow by more than 20% annually through 2028, when shipments are projected to reach 36 million units. That would be twice the number of foldable smartphones shipped in 2025.

The research firm says wide-format book-style foldable phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, are driving the market's current growth. Book-style foldable phones accounted for 69% of total foldable smartphone shipments in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, shipments of flip-style foldable phones declined by 47% compared with the first half of 2025.
