On Samsung smartphones, a new update for the Google Play System has become available. Depending on the device model and One UI version, the update size can vary. After installing it, you will see the Google Play System update field get updated from June 1, 2026, to July 1, 2026 (via CID).
Google doesn’t offer a changelog for these updates. So, there’s no information about the changes it brings. That being said, these updates usually pack bug fixes, performance improvements, and security enhancements for Google apps and services. Therefore, getting them is a good idea.
The update seems to be available for devices running One UI 9.0 and One UI 8.5 globally. You can check the availability of the latest Google Play System update on your Samsung phone, as well as get it by going to Settings > Security and privacy > Updates > Google Play System update.
Last year, Samsung phones didn’t get a Google Play System update for four months in a row, and for that, the South Korean tech giant and Google faced backlash. Since then, the rollout frequency has improved considerably, with Galaxy devices now receiving the latest Google Play System update at the beginning of each month.
