More info about Galaxy Watch Ultra 2’s Snapdragon chip appears

Qualcomm announced its first Snapdragon Wear Elite chip for smartwatches a few months ago and revealed that Motorola and Samsung would be among its launch partners. That strongly hinted at Samsung using the chip in the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Now, more details about the new wearable processor have surfaced.

Snapdragon Wear Elite CPU and GPU specifications

Although Qualcomm didn’t reveal the Snapdragon Wear Elite’s exact CPU configuration or GPU information, those details have now appeared (via Gamma0Burst) in the Geekbench database. The chip, codenamed Vienna, appears to feature a five-core CPU with one Cortex-A78C core clocked at 2.11GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.96GHz. It also features the Adreno 622 GPU with one compute unit (CU).

The Geekbench listing also reveals that the chip is being tested in a device with 4GB of RAM running Android 16.

Exynos W1000 vs Snapdragon Wear Elite: Performance

The Snapdragon Wear Elite is a 3nm chip. Based on this new information, it also runs at higher clock speeds than Samsung’s in-house five-core 3nm wearable chip, the Exynos W1000.

As a result, its single-core Geekbench score of 573 points is 54% higher than the Exynos W1000’s score of 371 points. Its multi-core score of 1,069 points is also 56% higher than the Exynos W1000’s score of 683 points.

The Adreno 622 GPU inside the Snapdragon Wear Elite also appears to outperform the Exynos W1000’s Mali-G68 GPU in Geekbench’s GPU Compute test. It scored 1,459 points, compared to the Exynos W1000’s 993 points, representing a performance advantage of around 47%.

What to expect from the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

So, if the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 comes equipped with the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, it could deliver a substantial performance boost over the first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch is also rumored to feature a much brighter display with up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, 64GB of storage, and a larger 800mAh battery for significantly longer battery life.
