Samsung's second and final major launch event of the year kicked off moments ago. The company's latest devices, including the brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the ultra-thin Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, are now available for pre-order.
However, they won't be shipping for a couple more weeks. At least that's the plan, but Samsung hasn't always stuck to its initial launch plans.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra are available for pre-order starting today, July 22, and will officially go on store shelves globally on August 7. But in reality, they might reach your address earlier if you pre-order.
You could receive your order early
In theory, the sooner you place your Galaxy Z Fold 8 or Fold 8 Ultra pre-order, the sooner you should receive your phone once shipping begins.
In practice, it doesn't always work that way. Samsung has often pleasantly surprised pre-order customers with early Galaxy shipments that reached their destination before the pre-order window closed.
There's no guarantee this will happen again during the Galaxy Z8 pre-order period, but if history is any indication, some early buyers may receive their Folds a little earlier than others.
Regardless, the official release date is August 7, so mark your calendar if you're planning to pre-order one of Samsung's latest Folds.
NOTE: Release dates may differ in some markets.

This year, the regular Fold format we're all familiar with is called Fold Ultra, while the standard Fold name now belongs to a brand-new model with a wider, passport-style aspect ratio.
