One UI 8.5 brings a handy security feature to the Galaxy S25 FE

One UI 8.5 brings a handy security feature to the Galaxy S25 FE

A few days ago, Samsung released the first post-One UI 8.5 software update for the Galaxy S25 FE. Besides bringing the latest security patch, the update also introduced a handy new security feature that debuted earlier this year with the Galaxy S26 series.

The May 2026 security update, which was first released in South Korea with firmware version S731NKSS7BZE1, adds a feature that improves fingerprint recognition accuracy. It allows users to enhance the accuracy of already registered fingerprints by scanning them again.

This feature is designed to reduce instances where the phone fails to recognize a fingerprint on the first attempt.

To use the feature, navigate to Settings > Lockscreen and AOD > Screen lock and biometrics, and then enter your PIN. Next, tap Fingerprints, select one of your registered fingerprints, and tap Improve accuracy. You can then re-scan your fingerprint in the same way you originally registered it during the phone setup process.

It is currently unclear whether the same feature is included in the update released in Europe and other global markets, which carries firmware version S731BXXS6BZE2. Ideally, since the firmware versions are similar, other countries may have also received the same feature, but we can't independently verify it as of now.
