Samsung introduced Now Bar to Galaxy devices in late 2024 to display live, ongoing activities. The next year, Google introduced a similar feature called Live Updates with Android 16. Initially, the feature was limited to a few navigation, food delivery, and ride-hailing apps, but it is now expanding to include Google Wallet.
Reports suggest that Google Wallet has started showing Live Updates for real-time flight tracking. This feature is available on devices running Android 16 or newer. According to 9to5Google, Live Updates appear shortly before a flightâs departure, allowing users to track progress and view the estimated arrival time. These updates show up on the lock screen, in the status bar, and in the notifications panel.

Android 16âs Live Updates feature is integrated with Now Bar on Samsung devices running One UI 8.0 or newer. This means the new Google Wallet functionality could start appearing on compatible Galaxy phones and tablets in the near future. Samsung Wallet already picks up flight details from messages and PDF files and displays them in Now Bar and Now Brief.
More apps are expected to adopt Live Updates as Android 16 becomes more widely available. Ideally, apps for flight tracking, navigation, sports scores, and fitness tracking will also support Live Updates and Now Bar in the future.
