With the Galaxy S26 series now official as the first Samsung phones running the stable version of One UI 8.5, it seems the company is finally ready to expand the One UI 8.5 beta to devices beyond the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra.
Internal One UI 8.5 test builds for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and many other devices have been floating around online for some time. Now, the first beta firmware has been spotted for the two foldables on Samsung's servers.
When standard test builds get replaced by beta builds, it usually means Samsung has taken a meaningful step toward opening a public beta program. Samsung was likely just waiting until it could put the Galaxy S26 series on retail shelves before expanding the One UI 8.5 beta to more devices.
It remains to be seen if Samsung plans to launch a beta program for flagship devices released before 2025. Development of One UI 8.5 has been ongoing for devices as old as the Galaxy S23 for some time, but that doesn't necessarily mean those devices will get a public beta before the stable version.
As always, we'll be sure to let you know once we learn more, so stay tuned!
