Samsung is betting big on AI. That's no surprise, considering the company's strategy for the past couple of years. Samsung calls the newly launched Galaxy S26 its “third-generation AI phone,” and this AI narrative will likely continue evolving for years to come.
Nevertheless, Samsung's AI ambitions extend beyond the consumer market. Nearly three years ago, the company introduced an in-house AI model called Gauss, designed for employees. Now, Samsung is planning to use AI to automate global manufacturing.
Samsung discussed its new AI strategy at Mobile World Congress 2026. The goal is to transform global manufacturing into “AI-driven factories” by 2030.
Fully integrating AI across the manufacturing chain
Simply put, the company wants to “create a next-generation autonomous manufacturing environment.”
Samsung aims for its AI systems to govern the entire manufacturing chain, from material production and logistics to quality control and final shipment.
According to Samsung, one of the first steps will be implementing digital twin-based simulations in manufacturing, followed by AI agents for quality control, logistics, and production.
The company then plans to expand AI across Health, Safety, and Environmental operations. By 2030, Samsung wants predictive detection and automated hazard prevention systems to improve workplace safety across its factories worldwide.
The next stage of manufacturing innovation is building autonomous environments where AI truly understands operational contexts in real time and independently makes optimal decisions.
Interestingly, Samsung says its Agentic AI, first introduced with the Galaxy S26 series, is “at the heart of this transformation.” Agentic AI can plan long-term, execute tasks, and optimize decisions with minimal human supervision.
Ideally for Samsung, Agentic AI systems similar to those used by the Galaxy S26 will power its global manufacturing infrastructure within the next four years. The technology could improve workflows, repair operations, predictive maintenance, and logistics coordination.
