Galaxy Z Fold 7’s first update already here, see what it brings

Samsung's latest flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, was officially unveiled on July 11 and is set to hit retail shelves on July 25. And in a surprise move, Samsung has already rolled out the first Fold 7 software update, a few days before the phone is available to most buyers.

The early update is a little unusual, as Samsung typically releases the first update after a device goes on sale. But since this update brings only security fixes (from the July 2025 patch), we can assume that the software running on the Fold 7 out of the box is already in solid shape, something we can confirm based on our testing.

This marks the beginning of a long software support journey for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung is promising seven years of major Android and One UI upgrades, and the phone will get monthly security updates for at least four years. The same is true for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which were announced alongside the latest Galaxy Z Fold.

The Fold 7's first update is currently rolling out in South Korea, but we expect it to expand to other markets in the coming days. Once you have the phone, you will be able to download the update from its Settings » Software update menu.

If you're planning to pick up a Fold 7, you may want to pre-order, as Samsung is offering some excellent pre-order bonuses, including double the storage for the price of the base variant. Some other perks are also available depending on region.
