Fix for Instagram nuking the battery on your Galaxy phone is here

Many Android phone owners, including those with Samsung Galaxy devices, took to online forums like Reddit recently complaining about unusual battery drain on their devices. It then emerged that the Instagram app was causing excessive battery drain.

Google has itself acknowledged the issue that many Android users have faced. The company has also confirmed that the latest update of Instagram addresses the matter.

Instagram's latest app update fixes the problem

Google confirmed in an official support post that Instagram has started rolling out a new update to fix the battery drain issue on Android phones and tablets. Users are recommended to update to the latest Instagram app build 382.0.0.49.84 so that the app no longer nukes their battery.

Reports about excessive battery drain first emerged earlier this month, starting with Google's own Pixel devices. Samsung device owners have also complained of the same on forums like Reddit, with many figuring out that the root cause of their problems was the Instagram app.

Instagram's latest update is now available for download through the Google Play Store. If you don't find the option to update it through the Play Store, it's likely that the app was updated automatically when you last had your phone plugged in. If it does display the option to install the update, just go ahead and do that and it should take care of the battery drain issue.
