Find out how long Galaxy S25 Edge will get major OS upgrades

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge as its thinnest Galaxy S smartphone ever on May 13. The super slim design of the phone is reinforced by a titanium frame and Corning's Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and we hope that combination actually helps durability, as some users could be using the Galaxy S25 Edge for up to seven years.

Why? Because like the other Galaxy S25 models, the Galaxy S25 Edge will get seven major Android OS upgrades. Samsung's extended update policy, introduced with the Galaxy S24 series in 2024, also applies to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. This long-term software support is matched only by Google in the entire smartphone industry.

Galaxy S25 Edge will get OS updates up to Android 22 and One UI 14

The S25 Edge ships with Android 15 and One UI 7.0 out of the box, which means it should get OS upgrades all the way up to Android 22 and One UI 14. That's assuming Samsung and Google stick to the current naming conventions. Samsung will also provide security updates for seven years. Security updates are likely to come out on a monthly basis for at least the first four years.

The Edge model offers the same amazing software experience seen on the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, including fantastic Galaxy AI features like Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist. Interested in this phone? Click here to learn about Galaxy S25 Edge specs, features, pricing, release date and more.
