Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra receive a new update in the US

Samsung started rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra last week. It's quite a significant update, at least in size, measuring some 900MB. This update had been released in a handful of markets during the initial roll out.

It was only a matter of time before the update made its way to the United States, and now it has. Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra owners in the US will have received the update notification by now.

US Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra owners should watch out for this new update

The changelog is quite vague in that it doesn't mention anything about any new features or improvement. What it does reveal is that the smartwatches get the March 2025 security patch with this release. The latest patch addressed some 58 security vulnerabilities in the software.

One would have imagined that an update coming in at 900MB would bring some significant upgrade, but that's not always the case. We've seen similarly chunky updates in the past as well that have done nothing more than spruce up the security aside from the generic stability improvements that are touted in every release.

The update notification should have arrived on the connected device by now. If it hasn't, you can always manually check for the update as well. This can be done by heading to the Software update menu on the smartwatch itself. There you'll find the option to download and install the latest firmware updates for your smartwatch.
