Samsung Electronics could soon replace TM Roh, the current chief of Samsung MX (the company's mobile division). According to reports from South Korea, Samsung has promoted one of its executives to replace TM Roh.
TM Roh could be replaced by Choi Won-joon as the head of Samsung's mobile division
According to Business Korea, Samsung Electronics has appointed Choi Won-joon as the president of Samsung MX's Development Division today. So, going by Samsung's tradition, Choi Won-joon will soon succeed Roh Tae-moon as the president of the entire Samsung MX division.
Choi Won-joon is a prominent figure within Samsung and the entire smartphone industry. They have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea. They also have a master's degree and a doctoral degree from Standford University, USA.
Before joining Samsung Electronics in 2016, Choi Won-joon worked as a researcher at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and as a senior engineer at Atheros Communications, where they were responsible for chip design. During their early years at Samsung, they led the Strategic Product Development Team 1 in the company's Wireless Business Division.
Samsung reportedly made an internal announcement about Choi Won-joon today and attributed this promotion to the success of the Galaxy S25 series. Choi reportedly contributed greatly to the development of the Galaxy S25 series. This performance-based promotion is expected to drive further excellence and innovation within the company.
