With World Sleep Day (March 14) and Daylight Saving Time (March 30) around the corner, Samsung has shared some valuable insight into the sleep patterns of Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch users. The company also announced a new Samsung Health update that will be coming later this month for One UI 7 users.
Last year, Samsung analyzed the sleep patterns of Health users around and during the night of Daylight Saving Time (DST). It determined how these time/clock changes affect different age groups.
Samsung found that people went to bed nearly 30 minutes later and woke up 19 minutes earlier than usual, on average, on the day of DST.
Interestingly, people in their 20s were most likely to feel the negative effects of DST, while other age groups adapted faster to the time change.
In anticipation of Daylight Saving Time at the end of March, Samsung has shared a few tips and will release a new Samsung Health update for One UI 7 users.
- Upcoming Samsung Health app update will allow users to create an ideal sleep environment through guidance and analysis of key factors that influence sleep quality, such as temperature, CO2, humidity, and illuminance. This feature will be available through the Sleep Environment Report feature on Galaxy phones running One UI 7.
- Further Samsung Health updates will enhance the Energy Score function. A new Activity Consistency metric will be implemented.
- Samsung advises Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Ring, and Samsung Health users to use the Sleep Coaching feature to get a personalized sleep coaching program ahead of World Sleep Day and Daylight Saving Time.
Last year, to improve sleep-related features in Samsung Health and see how DST affects people, the company analyzed sleep data from Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch users in the USA, Canada, and more than 40 European countries.
