Galaxy Buds 3 Pro rival from Xiaomi is tuned by Samsung’s Harman

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro rival from Xiaomi is tuned by Samsung’s Harman

On Sunday, Xiaomi launched its new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It competes directly with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, that isn’t the only device the Chinese brand launched to rival the South Korean tech giant. Xiaomi also launched the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro. They go up against Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

What’s interesting is that Xiaomi has taken Samsung’s help to tune the audio of its latest pair of earbuds. Well, at least indirectly. The Buds 5 Pro come with Harman Audio EFX tuning. For those of you who still didn’t figure it out, Harman is owned by Samsung. As such, the South Korean tech giant is also earning from Xiaomi’s new product.

Keeping Samsung’s help aside, the Buds 5 Pro has an excellent feature set. Each earbud features two amplifiers and three coaxial drivers. There is Qualcomm’s aptX Lossless and Snapdragon Sound onboard. As you may have expected, they feature active noise cancellation (ANC). Xiaomi says it offers 15m/s wind noise reduction.

The Buds 5 Pro offer up to 8 hours battery life on a single charge. The charging case offers four additional charges for a total battery life of up to 40 hours. You get gesture control for AI transcription and translation, just like that on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. These earbuds also offer personalised built-in dimensional audio.

Xiaomi has priced the Buds 5 Pro at €199 for the Bluetooth-only model. There’s also a model featuring Qualcomm’s XPAN technology. It uses Wi-Fi to connect to a phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or 8 Elite to offer 96KHz/24-bit audio at 4.2Mbps bandwidth. That’s double of what the Bluetooth-only version offers. It costs €219.
