Yesterday, we reported that Samsung had released a new software update to the international variants of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, that offers the December 2024 security patch. A day later, the South Korean tech giant started rolling out the same software update for the carrier-locked variants of the three devices.
The new update is available for SM-S901U, SM-S906U, and SM-S908U. At the moment, it is live on AT&T. Samsung should release it for devices on other networks soon. The new firmware comes with the build number S90xUSQS7EXK9. The December 2024 security patch that the new update offers, fixes several security issues. You can read more about it here.
You can head to Settings » Software update » Download and install to get the update. If your phone has sent a notification about the new firmware, you can just click on it to get it. The new update is also available in our database for you to download and install manually using Odin. Expect Samsung to release the new security patch to the remaining variants of three devices, including the carrier-unlocked variants, in the next few days.
What about Android 15 (One UI 7.0) for Galaxy S22?
While we are on this topic, it is worth mentioning that the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra are eligible for the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update. It offers a refreshed user interface and many new features, which you can check out in the video below. Expect Samsung to release the update to your device in January or February.
