Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a hit, sells out over the weekend

Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition appears to be a hit already. The phone was released in South Korea last Friday, but sometime during the weekend, it completely sold out.

Nobody knows how many Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition units Samsung had in store before the phone went on sale in Korea on October 25. Whatever that number may have been, it wasn't enough to meet the high demand.

Samsung's official store page now says, “All prepared stock has been sold out” and states that the company is “preparing the product.” Samsung allows prospective buyers in South Korea to sign up for restock alerts via email.

Everyone wants better Galaxy Folds

In Korea, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition retail box includes the phone itself, a leather case, a USB-C cable, and even a (25W) wall charger, which is quite unusual.

To reduce waste, modern phones don't usually come with a charger in most markets. Even in Korea, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 doesn't ship with a wall charger, but Samsung appears to have made an exception for the Special Edition phone.

More details below, after the video

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition comes in one color option, Black Shadow, and one memory configuration featuring 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

This surprise foldable phone that came out of nowhere is roughly $300 more expensive than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6 with 512GB of storage. It 2,789,600 won, which translates to around $2,016.

The special edition device sports a camera upgrade, a wider footprint and a thinner profile, a less visible foldable display crease, and no S Pen support.

While you can't buy the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in most markets, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is in stock virtually everywhere and often available at a discount. Here's how the two phones compare.
