The same day Apple's new iPhones are set to go official, Samsung is bringing the latest version of One UI and new Galaxy AI features to customers around the world. One UI 6.1.1 went live for the Galaxy S24 series on September 5, and just four days later, the update is making its way to Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra owners globally.
Is this a coincidence, or did Samsung plan this out so it could steal some of Apple's thunder? We are guessing it's the latter. It seems a little too deliberate to be a coincidence, especially since Samsung doesn't usually provide specific dates for the rollout of One UI and Android updates, a tradition it ignored for One UI 6.1.1.
Galaxy devices get more AI features while Apple Intelligence languishes in the preview stage
With the One UI 6.1.1 update, Samsung is doubling down on its commitment to making Galaxy AI available to as many users as possible. The Korean giant introduced Galaxy AI earlier this year with the Galaxy S24 series, and instead of asking users to upgrade to the new phones to access Galaxy AI, Samsung made it available to its existing customer base through a software update.
And now, while Apple Intelligence is still in the preview stage, Samsung is bringing a new batch of Galaxy AI features to its customers via the One UI 6.1.1 update. Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra owners get first dibs, and in the coming days, Samsung will make One UI 6.1.1 available to all flagship Galaxy phones and tablets launched in 2023.
One UI 6.1.1 will also come to flagship Galaxy devices launched in 2022 before the end of the year. And that's not all: Samsung is also working on the Android 15 and One UI 7.0 update at the same time. One UI 7.0 won't introduce any AI features, but it will make notable changes to the user interface.
