Pointless mid-range Galaxy smartphone gets closer to launch

In July this year, we learned that Samsung is developing an ’s’ variant of the Galaxy M55. Considering the ’s’ variants of Galaxy smartphones that the brand has launched to date, we assumed that the Galaxy M55s will be more advanced than the phone it is based on.

However, a leak earlier this month revealed that might not be the case with it carrying forward the same spec sheet as its predecessor. While the Galaxy M55s seems pointless, it will soon be hitting the market.

Samsung India has published the Galaxy M55s support page on its official website. This is the first leak from an official source that confirms the existence of the smartphone. It also confirms that the South Korean tech giant will launch the Galaxy M55s in the Indian market.

There’s more to the story though. The webpage also says that it belongs to the variant of the Galaxy M55s that has 8GB memory, confirming that it will be one of the RAM options on offer. A variant with 12GB RAM will probably be available as well, as the M55 has a 12GB of RAM variant.

The only difference between the Galaxy M55 and the Galaxy M55s is that the latter has shiny stripes on the back panel and it might be available in different colors than the former. At least that’s what the leaks that we have so far suggest.

We hope that Samsung doesn’t charge a premium for the stripes no one asked for. The rest of the specifications of the Galaxy M55s will be the same as the Galaxy M55. You can check those out here or read our review of the device here.
